X was invented in 1957 by engineers Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes. Fielding and Chavannes sealed two shower curtains together, creating a smattering of air bubbles, which they originally tried to sell as wallpaper.When the product turned out to be unsuccessful as wallpaper, the team marketed it as greenhouse insulation. Although X was branded by Y Corporation (founded by Fielding and Chavannes) in 1960, it was not until a few years later that its use in protective packaging was discovered. As a packaging material, X,s first client was IBM, which used the product to protect the IBM 1401 computer during shipment. Fielding and Chavannes were inducted into the New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame in 1993. Y celebrated X's 50th birthday in January 2010.ID X &Y.

Mocha and Cafe Coffee Day have upgraded their menu card, recently. Called X, the drink is priced at Rs 70. The main ingredients of the drink include orange juice and blue curacao (a liqueur), topped with soda and it comes with a stirrer shaped like a voluptuous woman.

This new drink has been conceived by Gotcha! Impact Media to promote Axe's new fragrance, Y, which changes its smell, a few times in a day.ID X & Y.

X are known for their short stature, green hair, orange skin and white pants with protruding knees. In early editions of the novel, X's are shown as African pygmies. Following growing controversy and criticism, in later editions of the book, X  are portrayed as white skinned and golden haired.

X come from Loompaland, which is a region of Loompa, a small isolated island in the Atlantic Ocean. X would often end up being preyed upon or attacked by Whangdoodles, Hornswogglers and Snozzywangers, which also lived there. Y ended up inviting them to work at his factory and get away from their natural predators.ID X and Y.
